I really loved this book when I was very young. Some years ago, I was teaching enrichment classes at a preschool in the Princeton area. I made a Caps for Sale game out of felt. Here is how to play: you roll the dice and depending on what number you get (1-6), you can put that many caps on the man's head. They seem to stick on because that is how felt works. This game is fun because the felt caps in the game are vibrant colors and patterns unlike the book where they are only gray, red, brown or black.
